Categories & Custom Fields

Categories

Organization: Categories allow users to group similar items together, making it easier to navigate and manage inventory. For example, a business can categorize items by type (e.g., electronics, furniture, clothing) or by usage (e.g., raw materials, finished goods).

Simplified Search and Reporting: By categorizing items, users can quickly filter and search for specific products, which streamlines reporting and inventory audits. This helps in generating insights based on product categories, such as sales performance or stock levels.

Improved Inventory Control: Categories help in monitoring stock levels for specific groups of items, allowing for better forecasting and reordering processes.

Custom Fields

Tailored Information Tracking: Custom fields enable businesses to track unique details about inventory items that are not covered by standard fields. For instance, a company may want to track specific attributes like size, color, or manufacturer, which can be crucial for certain products.

Flexibility and Adaptability: Custom fields allow businesses to adapt their inventory management system to fit their specific processes and workflows. This flexibility helps in accommodating various types of inventory and operational needs.

Enhanced Data Collection: By using custom fields, businesses can collect more detailed data on their inventory, which can inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency. For example, tracking specific details about perishable goods, such as expiration dates, can help in managing stock more effectively.

Improved User Experience: Custom fields can be designed with different data types (e.g., dropdowns, text fields, dates), making it easier for users to input and manage information accurately. This reduces the likelihood of errors and enhances the overall user experience

How to Create Categories & Custom Fields

You can create categories & custom fields for any item. This is generally unique information you want to track and have all your inventory fully specified.

Categories

All items can be assigned to categories to allow users to group similar items together, making it easier to navigate and manage inventory. Categories help in monitoring stock levels for specific groups of items, allowing for better forecasting and reordering processes. To create Categories, navigate to Settings>Categories and create as many as needed.

Sub-Categories

AuctionBlaze supports sub-categories to organize your items even further. There is no limit to how many sub-categories you can have. Note: a sub-category will inherit all the custom fields of a parent category.

Creating a Custom Field

  1. Go to the Settings > Custom Fields
  2. Click on the Add Custom Field button
  3. Name the custom field and select the type and click Save.
  4. Add this custom field to any category you want it to appear in
